Here’s a story on how I used ChatGPT to solve my own business problems. As I am transitioning and rebranding my company away from a marketing first focus, to AI consulting and AI based products, one of my friends recommended me to read “How to Build a Story Brand” by Donald Miller. As an 11 year marketing student, I had not read the book before, but the core message resonated with me “The customer is the hero of the story, and it’s your job as a business to guide them to success”.

This blog post is about how I turned this exercise into a game to help me do work that was difficult and would have normally taken weeks, into an out of the box creative game that allowed me to finish in just a couple of short hours.

Use AI tools to think outside of the box

I live by Bill Gates motto “I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it”, and that is the primary reason why I have learned so much about how to use ChatGPT. So when it came time for me to build a new brand for The AI Consulting Lab, I immediately turned to ChatGPT to help me implement Donald Miller’s framework.

Because I was still unfamiliar with so many aspects of the framework, and on a bit of a time crunch with many other projects going on, I felt a little overwhelmed on where to get started. Drawing on past experiences where I had trouble finding the groove to get started on a project, I instructed ChatGPT to assume the role of Donald Miller, and to turn his framework into a role play exercise, where he would ask me questions about my product, my audience, and how I wanted to serve them.

As AI Donald and I continued to put the pieces together, we built out the brand story, ideal customer persona, marketing angles, product ideas, website copy, and brand guidelines to send to a graphic designer. By the time I was finished, I had created all of the material I needed to build out a new brand in a matter of hours, something that would have normally taken weeks, or months depending on the person’s skillset.

That brings me to the core message that we have as a company, as well as the central theme of this post: this new wave of AI technology is here to help you do more, with less effort.

Use ChatGPT for your business do more work, in less time

Why does it take us so long to get our work done? Is it because it’s unfulfilling, or because it doesn’t trigger enough dopamine in our brains? Or do we procrastinate because we don’t know exactly what to do to get the job done, and end up spiraling in negative thoughts?(maybe that’s just me).

What I love most about ChatGPT and AI in general is that it allows me to exercise my creativity, something that all humans innately possess in some form or fashion, with a partner that is smarter than all humans on the planet, and will never get tired of me asking it questions.

I had a job to do that I had little motivation to do because 1) I had a million other things to do, and 2) didn’t know where to get started, or how best to communicate my message. Because I let my creativity wander, and tried something out with a technology that we don’t know the limits of yet, I discovered another way to do more work, with way less effort, and the end result was much better than if I had done it all on my own.

How to use ChatGPT in your business to solve problems

So, how does this apply to you, someone who only cares about how to solve their business problems? You have needs in your business right? You need to create a social content calendar, you need to write a business plan, you need to create a budget, you need to figure out if your new product is worth buying.

The true power of AI lies in its ability to encourage unconventional thinking. When faced with a roadblock, instead of traditional brainstorming sessions, you can now engage in AI-assisted simulations, role-plays, and scenario analyses. This not only offers a fresh perspective but also ensures that solutions are research-driven and customer-centric.

All of these things mentioned above have frameworks that the entrepreneurs of the past have figured out work well to accomplish the goal at hand. Your job is to figure out which framework fits your situation, so ChatGPT can help you reach the finish line.

Here are ways to use ChatGPT to help your business:

Framework Exercises with ChatGPT:

  1. Find the framework you need to help do the thing- you can use ChatGPT with web browsing plugins(webpilot) to come up with a list of possible frameworks to solve the problem.
  2. Ask ChatGPT if it knows the framework, or if it needs additional information about it.
  3. Ask ChatGPT to assume the persona of the framework creator to engage in a role play exercise to fill out the framework for your scenario.
  4. ….
  5. Profit!

Pro-tip: if you are unfamiliar with the framework, or are at a loss for what types of answers to give to ChatGPT, include in your instructions for it to assume the role of the framework creator that it should give you relevant sample answers to the questions it asks to give you a head start on what answer to give in response.

Role-Playing as Your Ideal Customer Avatar:

Understanding the customer is the cornerstone of any successful business. ChatGPT actually gives you the ability to simulate interactions with your ideal customer avatar. If you role-play these scenarios, you are gaining insights into your customers’ desires, pain points, and expectations. This method offers a unique perspective, allowing you to preemptively address concerns and tailor their offerings.

For instance, you could simulate a conversation where a customer is hesitant about a product’s price, and you uncover all of the reasons why they might have that hesitation. Through this interaction, you are gleaning insights into potential value-added services or offers that might sway your customer.

Pro-tip: ask the avatar what things they want to see as a consumer when interacting with your business online. This gives you the opportunity to confirm you’re on the right track with your messaging, or a chance to evaluate if your current message is actually serving them.

Use ChatGPT to revolutionize your marketing:

The digital age has brought near limitless opportunities for marketers. However, with these opportunities come what seems like an equal number of challenges, primarily the overwhelming amount of content and the need for personalization to cut through the noise. AI stands at the forefront of addressing these challenges.

Creating Superior Marketing Content with AI:

Gone are the days when generic content sufficed. Today’s consumers are inundated with information(between 4k to 10k ads per day on average!), making it crucial for businesses to stand out. AI tools can analyze vast amounts of data, discern patterns, and generate content that resonates with specific audiences in an instant.

For example, ChatGPT can optimize blog post titles for your business based on search trends or even draft preliminary content based on target keywords. This not only ensures relevance but also consistency in quality, especially for businesses that may lack in-house expertise.

Additionally, not everyone is a marketing expert, or has kept up to date with the best way to write a script for a video ad optimized for Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok. Anyone who isn’t a strong writer, and has bills to pay will tell you that they would much rather focus on an activity that they are good at, and will bring them revenue than write marketing copy. This is where ChatGPT shines, helping you create marketing content.

Ultra-Personalized AI Lead Generation Follow-Ups:

Every interaction a lead or customer has with a business is a goldmine of information. AI harnesses this data to craft personalized follow-up messages. Whether it’s a follow-up email customized from the notes your sales rep took or a product recommendation derived from past purchases, AI ensures that marketing messages are not just seen, but also acted upon because they are relevant and solve a problem. This level of personalization was once a labor-intensive task; now, it’s automated, accurate, and efficient.

For instance, consider a scenario where a potential customer browsed through several products on an e-commerce platform but abandoned their cart. AI can analyze the products viewed, the time spent on each product, and even the customer’s past interactions. Using this data, it can craft a personalized email, perhaps offering a limited-time discount on the abandoned items or suggesting similar products that might catch the customer’s interest.

Another example, in the B2B sector, sales cycles can be long and complex. It’s not uncommon for leads to go cold due to a lack of timely follow-up. With AI, you can set triggers based on lead behavior. If a lead downloads a particular resource or attends a webinar, AI can schedule a personalized follow-up, ensuring the lead stays warm and gradually moves down the sales funnel. This proactive approach, powered by AI, ensures that no potential customer slips through the cracks.
